I could eat Japanese food every single day of the week because firstly it tastes so good, but secondly you won't find many other cuisines that are better for you. Everything is clean, simply cooked and relies on good ingredients. In Berlin you are never far away from good Japanese food and one area that typifies that is Mitte where you could just as easily be walking down a street on Tokyo given the amount of sushi bars and other Japanese Fare.

One of my favourites in the area is Hashi. There are a number of reasons I like it including the great food, the friendly and knowledgeable staff but most of I like the prices. When you eat Japanese food you usually do so knowing that it isn't the cheapest option in town. All those lovely fresh ingredients and the skilled staff to cook them don't come cheap.

In here though you'll get a good value lunch meal for well under 10 Euros and it doesn't feel like they are skimping on anything at all. Have a look at the huge bowl of salmon with fresh leaves and rice that I had for lunch. Along with a cup of green tea I had change from 10 Euros and I left feeling as healthy and full as I could possibly be.

Another great sign of a good Japanese restaurant is when you see the place packed full of Japanese people on a regular basis. They should know the food best and with so many options in the capital it is telling that so many choose to eat here. Throw in the fact that they do great sushi (mostly in the evenings) and have good Japanese and German beers on tap and this is one of the best places to hit up in Mitte. The atmosphere is charming, the food tasty and the prices super affordable. What more could you possibly want?
